Identifying plant specimens is the most important job in botany, according to Brian Boom, Vice President of Botanical Science and the Pfizer Curator of Botany at the New York Botanical Garden. There's an old Chinese proverb that goes something like, 'The beginning of knowledge is knowing the names of things.'
Jun 01, 2017 Larval morphological characteristics that distinguish Reesa from related genera Megatoma and Trogoderma were given by Peacock (1993) and by Beal (1967; 1991), and are mainly expressed by the length of setae of the tarsungulus (pretarsus), the number and morphology of the middle 4 setae of the labro-epipharyngeal margin, and the morphology of the acrotergites.
A collector number was given and the specimens were dried according to the herbarium methods. The plant samples were kept in the herbarium of Harran University, Şanlıurfa. The Flora of Turkey and the East Aegean Islands [1] was used to identify plant samples. For the anatomical studies, materials were fixed in 70% alcohol.
Jun 01, 2016 Plant specimens were collected from Ain Zararegion about 20 km southeast of Tripoli, in the North Wast part of Libyan coast N 32 49' 33.53'' and E 13 17' 53.42'' (Fig 5). Monitotoring the plant and gathering of plant specimens were conducted within two consecutive years between 2014 – 2015.
Collected plant materials are used for making morphological description as well as herbarium specimens from herbariums SO, SOM and SOA. For morphological measurements are used 50 herbarium materials. The botanical descriptive terminology is according to STEARN (2004). The pollen morphology is examined with LM (Amplival, Carl–Zeiss Yena), after
A population of Xiphinema chambersi from the root zone around live oak (Quercus virginiana Mill.) trees on Jekyll Island, GA, is described using both morphological and molecular tools and compared with descriptions of type specimens. Initially, because of a few morphological differences, this nematode was thought to represent an undescribed ...

tal plants and roadside trees such as Senna siamea (Lam.) H. S. Irwin and Barneby and Senna occidentalis (Linn.) Link The genus has followed several curious lines of classi-fication. The taxonomy of this plant group is still puzzling because of the extreme morphological variability and ambiguous boundaries between taxa.

description nor identification key based on field data. 2. MATERIALS AND METHODS The present work is the result of a critical study of literature in the library of Central National Herbarium, specimens in Central National herbarium (CAL) and field studies in and around JNU New campus, New Delhi.
ples of Ziziphus plants were collected from the field. A twig of 24 cm which contained both floral and vegetative part was collected from each plant and was pressed immediately in the field to maintain the morphological features such as fruit, flower and leaves of the plant for the analysis. The specimens were identi-fied in the herbarium.

Plant parts that are too large for a single sheet may be cut into sections pressed on a series of sheets, for example a palm or cycad frond. Long and narrow specimens such as grasses and sedges can be folded once, twice or even three times at the time of pressing. In this way a plant of up to 1.6 metres high may be pressed onto a single sheet.
Molecular and morphological identification of Phytophthora species based on the types and other well-authenticated specimens. IDphy was developed to facilitate accurate and efficient identification of Phytophthora to species, using type specimens from the original descriptions for reference wherever possible.IDphy emphasizes species of high economic impact and species of regulatory concern for ...
the plant is a tree ... Picea mariana (P. Mill.) ... Hybrids are best recognized by intermediate morphology, but some studies suggest that extensive backcrossing has occurred, causing some hybrid-derived individuals to look more similar to one or the other parent.

Armando Carrillo-L pez, Elhadi M. Yahia, in Postharvest Physiology and Biochemistry of Fruits and Vegetables, 2019. 6.1 Introduction. In biology, morphology is the branch that deals with the form of living organisms. For plants, plant morphology or phytomorphology is the study of the physical form and external structure of plants, whereas plant anatomy is the study of the internal plant ...

A herbarium is a collection of preserved plant or fungal specimens. Many Herbaria were established throughout Europe in the 1600s, during the age of exploration when botanical gardens could no longer keep living collections of all the known species and thus preserving and storing specimens became common practice.
Sisyrinchium angustifolium Mill. (Iridoideae, Sisyrinchieae) has been reported as a new record for the flora of Turkey from NE Anatolia, and taxonomic and conservation status of this species are evaluated. Detailed morphological description, leaf and
